Does hot spot temps matter?

iHomer

If you take a look at my other post you can see that I've changed my case fans.

Never really noticed hot spot temps before.

Used to get around 77c old fan config

Now getting 75c with new fans.

However, after updating HWMonitor I can see it hits 84 to 87c hot spot temp.

Is this dangerously high? (I assume its around the same before changing the fans)

It's okish up to 95 though, what card are you using?

5700XT here, never went up 100C as far as I know, I don't monitor temps 24/7, just in benchmarks

I'm using an RTX 2070 super.

Just paranoid about temps after changing fans lol

Fans and hotspot deltas are completely irrelevant.

The only time you need to worry about hotspot is after repasting and /or repadding a card, because if the hotspot delta is too large, you either have poor core coverage, poor PSI pressure, or improperly sized or too thick (or too thin!) thermal pads.

good to hear!

I guess a temp of 70c and hostspot of 83 is perfectly fine then (i.e. the delta)?

As long as it's not thermal throttleling and isn't on the borderline of doing so your fine.
