So I have this crazy prebuilt NZXT bld with a 5950x/3080FTW3/G.Skill Royal 3600mhz CL18 I put in my own 2TB 980 Pro all running off a Gigabyte Aorus Master x570

It Came with a Kraken X73 cooler but it was loud and getting into the upper 80c's so I swapped it out for a trusty Noctua DH-15 all black edition which cut temps down 5cish on average.

All shoved into a pitch black NZXT H710i, and im trying to keep all the components I add solid black too.

To replace the 3 empty exhaust fan slots on top I threw in 3 Noctua NF-F12 Chromax PMW's and i have, and i just ordered a 140mm NF-A14 chromax for the back exhaust to replace the stock nzxt 120mm.

Because this case seems to have ZERO airflow from the front and almost zero exhaust from the top even with those new fans and im still hitting 86c on load, I just ordered some new hexagon cutout panels from a spanish company named coldzero.

My question is, what should I replace these stock nzxt fans with in the front with? I keep thinking "Noctua NF-A12x25!!!!" but thats ugly brown, and then I thought, perhaps buy the knockoff Thermaltake Toughfans but half the reviews are faulty fans, but also im thinking bequiet SIlent Wing 3's

I do believe the case has a dust filter on the front that will stay even with my airflow case mod

There is no budget, if a solid gold fan with diamond blades is the best fan for me id consider it.

Or buy a nice case that has plenty of airflow, and flip the other one locally for a few bucks.

Fractal makes a nice case..

Mine has filters too but I don't use them..

The case has more than enough airflow, the vents are on the right side panel where you can't see them from the front.

If you're hitting 86C then you've done something wrong with your CPU cooler mounting or thermal paste.

That looks like an ok case?

So you used a pea sized dab and then more dabs around it? Sounds like quite a bit.. maybe clean it off and just put a nice line down the cores. When you put your cooler back on give it a little twist to the left and right before you secure it. Should be good after that 👍🏻

Well they where just tiny dabs, probably not enough to spread out much at all.

I wonder if the dust filter on the h710i is thick enough to warrant a high pressure fan or if I can just go for max airflow.

Some people told me that 80c is normal for a 5950x, but isn't it dangerous it it hits 90? I want this pc to last me half a decade... And to cut down on fan noise

Maybe take the heatsink off and see if you actually did have full coverage of thermal paste.

Also, if you're OCing then of course you're going to get even higher temps.

You should move to liquid cooling if you're going to be running such a high vcore.

Adding tons of fans and a mesh panel will just make the PC louder.

The 5950X runs hot realisticly in any scenario unless you have a custom water cooled loop, you should expect idle temps of 35c+/40c+ and load temps of 80c+/90c+. A voltage of 1.45v is normal as the cpu will use less voltage when it is underload, 1.45v is normally seen around idle to light load. You can reduce temps slighty by setting PBO Limits to disabled which will lock the cpu to its own default power draw etc. Also for thos looking for a dramatic drop in temps with a certain degree of performance loss ECO Mode is another option.

Make sure you also have enough exhaust fans to compliment the amount of intake you have so you actually have airflow and air not becoming trapped inside the case.

Well, that's literally my mobos default 'Load optimized settings" option, also the default on fresh bios flash.

I actually figured out how to limit thermal manually, put it down to 75c, which subsiquently caused the following test cod mw tdm match to crash to desktop.

re-defaulted bios and turned on xmp again, as thats all I really change myself, also turn on ERP or whatever to disable usb power while pc is off.

Mine only gets to like 1.48v max even when its over 80c, haven't seen it hit 1.5v ever only really spikes to 86c or something when cod is downloading shaders, for some reason that is insanely taxing on the cpu.

My new top/front hex cutout mod for my h710i case is arriving monday, Im also considering buying 4 noctua NF-A12x25 to replace the stock nzxt fans, even though they are poop brown 3 for intake 1 for exhaust, i already have 3 NF-F12's exhausting out of the top. Will probably opt for thermaltakes toughfan 12 instead of the brown noctuas.

Corsair ML120's are a decent fan also (black with hints of grey), i had a couple of the NZXT fans on an aio and they were very loud so i replaced them.

Replaced 2 of my intake fans with noctua 12x25's, I "had" 4 delivered but to my shock 2 of them where F12 1700rpm redux's that looked used inside of the box directly from amazon.com, returning those 2.

Also put on that hexagon panel, and to my surprise, my temps are not exceeding 80c now, during a CoD match i was at 66c the whole time while before I would be around 77c.

And for the first time im idling in the low 40c's instead of high 50c's

My conclusion is, the H710i is a heat deathtrap, perfect for building a functional convection oven.

These case mods are held on by fairly weak magnets.. so I might just go and buy a new case when im feeling up to it.

Thinking corsair 5000D black for maximum airflow
