Secondhand PC Purchase Advice

Looking to get some advice on a secondhand build.

$1,500 USD

 

AMD Ryzen 7 3700X

Gigabyte B450 Series Motherboard

16GB Memory (not specified)

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Super (Asus)

1TB SSD (not specified)

Liquid Cooled

Colored Fans

That's a good price.

I mean, the GPU alone is worth around 1k in today's market.

The rest of the specs are okay too. B450 is only one generation old, and still fine.

 

As long as the system is stable and everything is what they say it is, then I think it's a solid deal. If you can talk him down a little on the price, even better.

 

If you decide to purchase, make sure to thoroughly look over all the hardware, and also run some benchmarks to confirm stability.

That is not a good price, you can do much better when it comes to prebuilts.

 

This PC (Cyberpower SLC7800BST) goes for less than $1,500 new on eBay, and was sold at MSRP for $1,349.99.

That prebuilt isn't in stock?

Is it a regularly stocked item?

Cyberpower discontinued this model. Look up the SLC7800BST on eBay, the listing that's less than $1500 is one of the first results.

Right, but again, it's not in stock lol

 

That's like pulling the MSRP price of a 30 series GPU and saying it's a good price.

 

Well, that's great, but you can't get your hands on one for MSRP in today's market.

This isn't the point I'm trying to make here. No, Cyberpower themselves is not selling it, but someone on the secondhand market is selling it for less than $1500.

 

Regardless of this, if OP is willing to pay $1500, I'm certain that they would be able to find a system builder that offers overall better specifications.

I found that on ebay at $1400 new so I wouldn't pay anymore than that for something used.

Is there not any sales tax that would be required as well? (I'm in Canada, and am not familiar with U.S taxes)

 

Also, because this is a second hand system, you should be able to negotiate the price down some, which makes it even more appealing.

I tried to negotiate down, but he wouldn't go below $1550 (original $1600).

Whether or not you pay sales tax varies from state to state.

Generally I would agree with you, as you'll likely be able to negotiate +/- $100. However, in this particular case, I see purchasing a brand new system on eBay as a much safer purchasing decision.

Much worse value. Try configuring a system on something like NZXT BLD if you're willing to spend that sorta money.
