Isnt it weird that my CPU is running at 3209 mhz instead of the standard 3600?

I have no clue as to why its still like this. So a bit of background, i limited the power to the CPU a while ago, so it wouldnt heat up too much. Then I removed it since it wasnt gonna let me overclock funny enough...

now with it removed its still running so low. How can I re clock my CPU? I once had it at 5ghz, when I first got it. But went back to the turbo mode since it was too hot over the summer

It is probably because you aren't doing anything that requires high clock speeds, try Cinebench or something.

At low loads it wont run full clock speed (even Intel CPUs try save power), give it something intensive to do.

If you run a multicore cinebench, and your cpu is operating at default settings, and you have adequate cooling of the cpu and your system, then you should see core clocks at 3.6Ghz.

A single core cinebench should give speeds of 4.9Ghz, according to the specs of the chip.

You mentioned you were messing around with power settings.

Was that from the bios?

If so, clear your CMOS to reset the bios back to defaults, then try the test again.

That's not hot at all.

If thermals aren't a concern, my thinking is your chip speeds must be affected by the software changes you've made.

Since you've already reset your CMOS, maybe uninstall those programs and see if everything returns to normal.
