oh I did mean only the 4gb stick and keep the 2 8gb stick.
there's sometimes issues that come down when mixing ram so it's a good course of first action to try since you did the rest.

Tried that as well with no results. The thing is I figured if it's power cycling just with power and cpu connected it must be either cpu or motherboard. Otherwise it would just beep/error code because of missing components? That one successful turn on without power cycle confused me, but I'm out of ideas besides it's a motherboard fault.

Hi,

Hope you can advise something

So I have this spare computer which I sometimes use. It been off for a while (with the psu switch in off) and I wanted to update it just in case.

So I power it on and it starts to power cycle, about 2 seconds off and on endlessly. I kind of left it there with the psu off again since I didn't have time to troubleshoot.

Next morning I turn it on and it was not power cycling which eventually led me to beleave that maybe it's not a motherboard issue, but I didn't get post so I restarted and it started power cycling again...

I did most of the troubleshooting, re-seated the ram (trying different sticks in different slots), removed most of the components and tried a different psu with motherboard out of the case with most stuff disconnected. Removed cmos battery to reset and a lot more other steps like checking the power connectors to motherboard, different power cable to the psu, if the reset or power pins are not shorting.

Was this just the last breaths of my motherboard or is there something else I can try?

Asus p8z77-v lx

I7-3770S

Gtx 970

Some 600 or so psu. Don't remember exact name now.

Some generic ram 2x8gb 1x4gb

I tired all ram sticks separately in all spots, same with all variants.
