Just wonder what would be a good GPU (and monitor) fit for my old system from 2009:

Intel I7 920 cpu

Asus P6T mobo

Needs a new Monitor and GPU.

Thanks.

I still have my 920 and P6T deluxe V2! Lol. Such a monster for the time. I think I ended up with a gtx 275 in mine before I retired that system. Or, hmm, maybe a gtx 470, that sounds more right.

If you can get like a gtx 970 for a good price, that would be a pretty solid option.

If you can, OC the CPU as much as possible. I ran mine 3.86 ghz 24/7 for years. 21 multiplier (you can lock it at the turbo multiplier which is 21), and decent cooling and you’d be pretty solid!

Thanks LIGISTX 🙂 .

Why did you retire it (did cpu die from OC)?

I overclock mine a bit, but not.as much.  Made lots of difference with Oblivion frame rates.

I have my Rampage III Formula, X5690 E.S. and few kits of decent ram.. such a beast. Period correct would be Fermi for sure, I have a GTX 580 Matrix Platinum for it. The system hates polar bears and mother nature.

Nope, still works perfectly. I boot it up every now and then.

It was retired for a 4770k many years ago. I kept the 920 system due to sentimental value; it was my first truly high end machine.

Lol, nice and same!  My i7 920 was my first high-end machine, my first non-hand-me-down machine, and was also my first machine I ever spec'd and built myself.

And I got all the parts from NCIX!  😄  .

But its been a hot minute since I've looked into new PC parts.

For monitor, any 1080p is good. Saying this with Samsung 24" from 2010.
