    I have had this pc for a couple years, had troubles in past with temperatures and thermal throttling, which was fixed at the time by increasing pl2 limit over 95w to like 115w. I stopped doing that awhile ago though.

    Today after cleaning out my computer with compressed air really well for once in awhile i decided to to run cinebench for my first time ever. I clicked the mutlicore test. After 10 seconds and i saw 100 degrees celcius almost instantly. My friends told me to quickly turn it off. I was told I should reapply thermal paste and reset bios and reset xmp. This has worried me because i am receiving conflicting information regarding cinebench. People say that if you cannot run cinebench without throttling you do not have adequite cooling. I have also been told that cinebench is not even remotely close to real world applications and doesnt reflect normal use.
    ```
    I don't know what to believe or do, I am so dumb with computers in all honesty. I get really really overwealmed easily. Idle temps are fine 38c package, average for gaming is like 75c highest temperature i see on my 9900k when gaming ever was like high 80's during battlefield and red dead 2.
    Should I be worried? Is this VCore too high? Should I reapply my thermal paste? I have never overclocked my cpu only ever tried under volting with xtu.
your vcore is defin waaaayyy  too high 1.43 is insane. I have a feeling that you put this on AUTO vcore. Manually set it to 1.28v and see where that gets you.
My 9900KS is on 5.0 ghz/ 0 avx/ 4.7 cache on 1.34. Idle temp 37 and full load mid 60s. But to be fair, I delidded my CPU and I am on h115i.
all my bios settings are default and they seem to just be causing issues for me, like for instance in the past i had thermal throttling and power limit throttling... is that normal? is my mobo just a cheapo?
no man. the default setting is usually pretty unreasonable. Intel wanted the 9900k to run without any problems under any circumstances so they purposely made an insane vcore table (this is called VID). You did nothing wrong. Your mobo does not sux. In fact, Asus z390 series are quite good. Just go to your bios and manually adjust your vcore to 1.3. Run OCCT with large data set for 1hr. If it is stable, slowly reduce the vcore by 0.1 and go as low as you can. If you are lucky, you could get as low as 1.2v. When your vcore is at 1.2v, your temps WILL NEVER reach 100C. At max mid 70s.
