Will the next windows update with the whole ui changes make my laptop faster. If so then can I avoid it or will it be forced like the previous updates.

Here are the specs:
Its an hp probook 6460b way back from 2011
Its got a core i5 2410m
8 gigs of 1333mhz DDR3 ram
And dont judge cuz I only use it only for documentation, I will buy a new one soon

If you're only using it to read documentation and the machine is quite old, why even bother with Windows? It's a task which you will basically notice no difference switching to Linux or even ChromeOS - beyond superior performance.

I imagine the update will be postponable, but required eventually.

Thanks for reading all this by the way!

By the way, my desktop is a docked laptop. Get over it, No seriously, I have an exterrnal monitor, keyboard, mouse, headset, ethernet and cooling fans all connected. Using it feels no different to a desktop, it works for several hours if the power goes out, and disconnecting just a few cables gives me something I can take on the go. There's enough power for all games I play and it even copes with basic (and some not-so-basic) video editing. Give it a go - you might just love it.

Nothing will make your hardware faster. The update might give some optimization on how Windows itself uses resources, but that doesn't mean that you wouldn't still run into same issues as you have now.

There is a little trick you can use. Jayztwocents showed it in a YouTube video a little time ago. (better not link to that here 🙂 )

Basically you set your wi-fi/network connection as a metered connection, and set the settings for Windows update, so that it won't check for updates on metered connections.

I have never tried it, since it might require a little tweaking elsewhere to get some apps to actually download, sync and update their files/data on a metered connection (Like OneDrive).
