my card is sagging pretty bad in just 3 months of owning. how bad is it for the PCIe lane if it droops about 1/2 of an inch now?

im thinking of using fishing wire to hold it up once i get the time, but when i lift it back up to the original position, the pci lane moves as well and it freaks me out.

1/2" is a pretty large drop..

Orient your PC on it's side and reseat the GPU, be sure to really put some force into the screws, use a flat head screw driver so you don't strip them. Run the power cables over the top of the PCB and through cable routing holes, Put some tension on it to support it.

I have my giant ass Gigabyte 770 and it has literally zero sag. You can check my log for it in my profile. Try and do the same it'll prevent any sagging without having to ghetto rig anything.

That's a lot of sag o: My gigantic triple slot 680 behemoth has little to no sag at all.

Try Helping's solution to try and get some support there. I think I read somewhere that sagging can be caused by the PCI brackets not being secure enough.

If that doesn't help, pull the card out and see if the card itself is physically bent, as opposed to just sagging.

I would use the PCI-E power cables to help get rid of some sag on the gpu like this: http://i.imgur.com/dwonqzG.jpg (big image) Source: http://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc/comments/1cr8rd/how_do_you_fix_a_sagging_gpu/

that makes sense to lay it on it's side. ill give this a try and update this thread if it works.

Definitely the easiest thing to do, in addition try while you have your case down and open is what @mgsstar also suggested

run the cable like:

And zip tie the PCI power cable somewhere onto the back of your MB tray and the card will have all the support it needs.
