(I Wasn't too sure where to out this, so I decided here would be a safe bet, but I may be wrong)

I host a Minecraft server on my PC for me and some friends,  and I wanted to know if there was a small, quiet, Linux pc to run it on if I am not using my pc. It would need at least 8gb of ram, but I am not sure on cpu or if there are any out there. I have a low budget, £200 at most, preferably less

To run your MC server? Raspberry Pi 4

It'll work, but not well. I play Minecraft with friends on a server hosted on an RPi4, and with more than a couple of people connected at once, there's loads of lag.

Thanks for reading all this by the way!

By the way, my desktop is a docked laptop. Get over it, No seriously, I have an exterrnal monitor, keyboard, mouse, headset, ethernet and cooling fans all connected. Using it feels no different to a desktop, it works for several hours if the power goes out, and disconnecting just a few cables gives me something I can take on the go. There's enough power for all games I play and it even copes with basic (and some not-so-basic) video editing. Give it a go - you might just love it.

Check facebook marketplace and similar apps for old gen i5-i7 cpu's with motherboard. Throw in a second handed 8gig ram and an hdd. It wont be the smallest or most quiet but It'll get the job done. And use papermc for server, It works much better than vanilla server. I can host papermc servers with 10 players on the pcs that can't host vanilla servers with 2 players.

I am going to look into a raspberry pi 4. The main reason I would need 8gb of ram is because i host a couple different worlds, and one more or less needs 4gb of ram, so double that because that is what minecraft lets you use at most.
