my GPU goes no signal when got load

Chris Yahya

So my PC specs is :

CPU : Intel i5 6600k

RAM : 16GB ddr4 vengeance lpx corsair, running 2133mhz (running 3200mhz results an error "previous overclocking has failed, press f1 to load saved values, press f2 to load default values) So im guessing this ram cant do XMP 3200Mhz anymore, need to claim warranty, but i cant get out cuz pandemic

SSD  : samsung evo 256gb

GPU : Nvidia GTX 1060 6GB EXOC Galax

PSU : Seasonic Focus Plus Gold 650W

DRIVER VERSION : 461.72

So here is my case :

First encounter is when i trying to open Genshin Impact game, when on login screen in game, suddenly my display went blank, and no signal.

My PC case is still ON. Gotta press power button once to signal windows to shut down. And it did. (not force shutdown by holding power button ok?)

After i turned it back on, I tried to open Furmark to do testing, and not in second it goes blank and no signal again, and PC case still running on.

I tried to turn on again, but not opening any program that use 3D raster graphics or games, still went fine. I tried to do some ray tracing rendering with Blender, it run fine.

Tried cinebench to test the CPU, it succeeds.

Now i'm afraid to test with furmark or games or any real time rasterization renders after that incident, because im afraid it gets worse and i have projects to finalize (with premiere pro and blender)...

is my GPU dying? Cuz in these times... the gpu prices are so crazy... nooooooo :(((

Do you guys have solution?

Hmm, it seems like it could be a driver issue at a first glance. Have you downloaded DDU, rebooted into safe mode and then done a full driver clean and reinstalled the drivers after booting back into normal mode? If not, you might want to do that just to make sure that it's not a driver issue.

To me it sounds like gpu power issue.

I'd reseat the gpu...always nice to recheck all connectors and Ram...

The 1060 doesn't need no dedicated power delivery from psu, right ?

I'm willing to swim against the current.

it needs a power delivery, 1 PCI-E power. reseat means , replugging it to make sure it connected right ?

I just did re-plug RAM, GPU power PCI-E cable. Even i try push the GPU toward to Motherboard, make sure its plugged in. But i'm still afraid to test it... 😞

im gonna try to update the driver later after this project finish. I'm afraid i will screw it up more harder and cant do my project anymore.

Because.. my previous 970, also has similar symptomps, but the difference is.. the longer you use the 970, the more shorter time it go blank no signal screen. Even if i boot that 970, i only can use for windows explorer. Opening A launcher of game/anything uses GPU, boom no signal...

for my 1060... i still can use it with premiere and blender. Gotta finish it before it really dies like 970. But i do hope its a driver issue... and back healthy again.. But first finish my premiere editing videos first asap..

also I'd try the other PCI-E power plug, it helped me once (for real 🙂)

I don't understand what you're afraid of.

I'm willing to swim against the current.
