Would it be possible to go cheaper but stay around the same specs; I also would like it not to be prebuilt, I want to try to build a pc for the first time.

Now's a really bad time to build a PC. I'd always encourage someone interested in doing so to give it a try, but right now is a terrible time because you're not going to find great deals on anything, and you're not going to find a GPU period. Trust me, it slaughters my soul to recommend a prebuilt.

There are lots of Ryzen prebuilts on Amazon, more than I had time to go through. In general, look for:

R5 4600/4650G or R7 4700/4750G

Either a 256GB SSD plus a 1TB HDD or just a 512GB SSD

16GB of RAM (although you can make 8 work if you buy another 8GB stick for dual channel)

Lots of systems are including something like an old Ryzen 3 and a GT 730 or RX 550. Don't buy them. They're trash and they should feel like trash.

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.

Thanks for your time. It does suck the time we are in right now for PC's but hopefully it wont be long till it is over and the prices goes back to normal.
