Hey everyone I just wanted to clear a few things up in this thread -

The Team -

Since the start of this forum back in January till now I have hand chosen every Moderator on my team and I would have to say I am proud of my team. We have evolved quite a bit since the start and have dealt with a massive array of different issues. Being a moderator of this team has resulted in likely more than what many of them signed up for but they seem to all be having an okay time so far! I ask quite a lot of my team and they seem to step up every time - I appreciate that a lot. There is an incredibly long list of qualities that I look for in new potential mods, and most of these qualities were extrapolated from my current moderators.

Recruiting new Moderators -

As I said above, I hand pick all of my Moderators. This means that direct applications or suggestions like this, while not ignored, will not directly result in a member becoming a Moderator. What I am more focusing on is taking suggestions of new recruits from my current Moderators. Also while someone may be considered it may take quite a while for me to get to them through my queue of recruitment. I like having only one new recruit at a time and I wait until I feel that they are fully integrated into the team before extending out another invitation to the team. While this may not result in the largest team ever I feel that it keeps our quality top notch.

This thread, the least bias poll ever -

There have been a few complains about this poll and its double yes answers but to be honest if it was the other way around that may have resulted in the thread being closed. This thread is an awesome and fun call out to a very appreciated member of our forums (I'm talking to you GoodBytes) and I would have hated to see a "No" answer because it would have just invited negativity to an otherwise very friendly topic!

I hope this clears a few things up in regards to the team, recruitment to the team, and this thread - Have a great day guys

sorry to say i would never pick some 1 who wants to be a mod. been there did that, never again.
if he's offered a position and takes it fair enough but in my experience posts like this do nothing to help mods pick a new member of the team. in fact they make the job harder.
why? because the people that put the names forward tend to think there owed something or have some special relationship that will stop them getting banned for things that would get most other members the boot. which results in the mods friends either forming a clique or being outright rude to other members, because they know there gonna be protected.

oops i wrote this on page 1 and didnt see slicks reply... but still. let the team pick there new mods. they know what they want so leave em to it.

Thanks guys, and thanks Slick.

I really deeply appropriate it!

Honestly, I fully support Slick views. If anything, I expected very but very, limited moderator level, like a helper mod of sorts, but I doubted it.

The forum is new, still has issues and the community is still at it's early stages, and lets not mention the mod team being very busy.

Beside, HEXiT raises a good point. There is a certain level of trust that needs to be build. While I love this awesome community, you can't just pick someone at random, no mater how helpful he or she is. That person needs to build a continuously strong relationship with the forum, and demonstrate it's ability to continue to stay respectful, helpful, and encourages discussion, all by continuing to be active on the forum. That's for starters.

I would like to say a big thank you to all.

And a special thank you for Slick for taking the time to post in a very clear mater the selection process and being transparent with us all.

You guys rock!

I think we need a new title besides the admin and mods for people like GoodBytes and Ghost. Something like a Linus approved title which Linus himself mentioned before.

Slick wants to implement such a feature, but I believe he is still working on it and thinking it through.

I'm all for GoodBytes having a title such as "Monitor Guru" and it having a coloured title.

I agree ^ I think Guru would be a much more fitting title than really a mod since GoodBytes is the #1 person in displays and maybe be a stepping stone if they want to make him a mod
