Hello all,

I'm having an issue that i cannot figure it out.

The pc randomly shuts down while I'm opening youtube videos, browsing webpages, I know how stupid this may sound.

It just doesnt make any sense, there is no overheating, I've replugged the ram, gpu, psu cables, they all seem fine.

I've ran Windows Memory diagnostic => all pass

OCCT stress for CPU, Power, GPU, memory => nothing no shutdown.

I've changed the PSU with a new corsair 650w 80+ . It should be enough for my old intel 7700k / geforce 1080/ MSI Mobo Z270 GAMING M5

Windows Events only shows: The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.

I'm running out of Ideas.

Any suggestion is welcomed.

Thanks,

Chris

This happened to me a couple of times, and ended up being one of three things; corrupt OS, well-hidden virus, or too-little RAM.

So what OS are you running, how much RAM, and what Antivirus, if any?

Windows 10 Pro Version 20H2  OSBuild 19042.928, installed on 3/‎5/‎2021,

RAM: 16GB of ram DDR4 2400

No antivirus, just windows defender. I dont have any pirated software, but who knows.

OS: check for any updates

RAM: not too bad

AV: for god's sake, disable windows defender! Literally anything is better, even free software.

The only other things I can think of are system tasks or your browser. If you're using Chrome, I swear I will absolutely vomit a bloody storm through the internet, and out your screen! Google is bad! Get rid of chrome!  If you're using MSIE or Edge, just clear all the caches. Any other browser, reinstall.

Besides that, go to task scheduler by hitting Windows-key+R, and enter taskched.msc and see if there's anything weird in the task set.

Windows is up to date, Guilty! its chrome. No weird stuff in Task scheduler.

Sometimes with this stuff I find it’s easier to just use the Microsoft Windows reinstall tool thing that keeps your programs and files where they are than to track down and fix the specific part of the OS causing issues.

Considering that the NVME where the windows was installed, was in a relative bad shape. I've reinstalled windows on the samsung NVME, so far no random crashes.

I would try a ram flash, remove all sticks of ram and boot. If the motherboard beeps or screams you have done it. Turn off the PC and re-install the ram sticks. See how it goes, if it happens again, try only booting with one stick of ram (if you have more than 1 stick)
