GTX 780 SMOKE

Go to solution Solved by jaslion,

Turn that oc off please.

Take the card out and remove the cooler. INSPECT IT THOUROUGHLY. Might just be a bit of dust that shorted but like make sure it's ok.

Also just leave the card to do what it wants it has nvidia's boost tech and will go to the max safe it can go on it's own. You lack many temp sensors to know if a certain component is cooking itself on normal cards.

I recently was overclocking my GTX 780 I got second hand. I read through a bunch of forums and Overclocked my card then ran a heaven benchmark. I ran it multiple times and increased the OC a healthy amount but way under what others were posting they achieved. My pc crashed entirely, then would not fire up so I thought I might have killed my power supply. The issue is that once it did turn back on my 780 sparked then a plume of smoke, but now it is running?!? So two main questions I have are: How is it still running? Should I keep running it or will I burn down my house?
