Advice on CPU and RAM

Budget (including currency): flexible I have budgeted both builds and could make either work it would just leave me less savings

Country: U.S.A.

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Destiny 2, Unity, Unreal, Blender, etc.

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I am planing a build around a 3070 and was originally thinking about going with a ryzen 5 5600 and was wondering if it would be worth it to get a ryzen 7 5800 I just wanted to know which would be a better fit at the 3070 level. And I was also wondering if I should go with a 16 or 32 gB kit of ram right now I think 16 would work but come fall I am going to college for computer science/game development and wanted to know if I would need the extra head room for different tasks.

Considering all of your workloads, I think going with a 5800X and 32GB of RAM makes sense for you vs the 5600X with 16GB of RAM, which would be sufficient for a gaming-only rig.

i would go with an  I7 10700 (can go for a 10700X if youre planning to overclock ) instead of a ryzen processor. if you want a really cheaper alternative you can go for a high end I5 and that processor will handle those games no problem.
