Connector confusion.

Hi there.

I was working on my first build, when I encountered a pretty serious problem....

My motherboard, the gigabyte G1 Sniper Z87 requires an 8 pin 12 volt ATX power connector, yet the "1 x 8 / 4-Pin EPS / ATX 12V connector" supplied with my power supply (which has 2, 4 pin connectors on the end), won't fit...my PSU is the silverstone strider plus 850,

I think I've just made a terrible mistake in thinking that this PSU was compatible with my motherboard. Is there anything I can do?

The guy who responded says that it might fit anyway, despite the shape pattern being different....not too sure about that...

It seems to me that the cables should fit fine. Make sure you connect the 2, 4 pines together and also make sure you have the right end going into the psu and the right end in the mobo. They may be slightly different. The manual is your friend but I don't see why the cables won't fit.

You may also want to make sure you are not trying to connect the 8-pin PCI-E connector either, It can be confusing sometimes.

Make sure it is actually the 2x4, not the PCIe connector, and also make sure that it's round the right way ect. It could just take a bit to get it in like the 24pins. Apart from that, I don't know why it would be stuffing up. Maybe RMA the PSU if nothing works.
