Power supply making buzzing noise

try stopping the fan

don't get electrocuted.

Are you still under warranty? RMA could be an option.

I may have found the problem..

Its not the power supply at all, its the filter underneath the power supply.

Whenever the buzzing noise starts, I slightly pull out the filter and it stops immediately. Im guessing what happens is when the fan hits high rpm it starts rattling the filter slightly causing a buzzing noise against the case.

Found someone having the same issue on another case:

My case is a Corsair 4000X

Around the end of March I upgraded my power supply, and my motherboard. I used to have a EVGA 400W that wasn't 80+ rated and I wanted at least something to assure me that my computer won't blow up in the middle of the night so I got a Corsair VS500. Since then, everything has been running nice, but around 5 days ago I noticed a small buzzing noise when I was playing GTA, so I just reboot my pc and it stopped, I assumed all was well.. When I woke up this morning I walked into my pc room to the loudest the buzzing has been. I just shut off my computer and I'm too scared to turn it back on, I think it's just vibrating against my case or something but I just want to make sure

Is there something rubbing a fan somewhere, or is it coil whine?

The case has vibration pads on the bottom where the power supply goes. There's nothing poking into the fan grills of the PSU causing any noise. I know it is my power supply because it comes from that specific area. I read somewhere that it could be a loose capacitor vibrating but I'm pretty sure it's the fan, could be completely wrong though.

So it's not a power supply. Put the filter back, bend the clips retaining the filter slightly so it will be under more pressure, ratting should stop at some point. Maybe put some rubber dampeners under the PSU if the case doesn't have them.
