GPU Upgrade

Go to solution Solved by Haraikomono,

Id suggest anything low to mid range graphics cards.

maybe a used RX580, since the market will be flooded with those, as many gamers are just waiting to upgrade to the high end stuff

Hi,

I'm thinking about upgrading from my 1050TI at some point (once GPU market calms the hell down) but I was looking for some guidance one what I should go with. I mostly play RPGs so I'm not worried about trying to get the highest FPS possible, I'm more focused on playing with high settings with a stable FPS. Don't know if I need to move up to the newest gen or can upgrade to something older.

Thank you

Playing at 1080p? An upgrade to a modest GPU is certainly a good idea, like the upcoming 3050, or perhaps a used 2060

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

Something like a used GTX 1070 for under $175 or an RTX 2060 for under $230 once the market calms down will be the best bang for the buck imo.

It really depends on the games, the resolution etc.

For instance, if you play RDR2 at 1440p you're gonna want something at least at beefy as an RTX 3060 to play it at high settings 60fps, but something like Fallout or Skyrim at 1080p would be fine with the previously mentioned GPUs.

The more I learn, the more I realise I don't actually know anything.

Recommendations: Lian Li 205m (sleek, pretty decent airflow for a non-mesh front panel and cheap), i5-10400f (Ryzen 5 3600 performance, 20% cheaper), Arctic P14 PWM fans, Logitech g305.

Is 3050 confirmed? I didnt watch the Nvidia event and haven't seen anything about it on youtube.

I think the rumors are from OEMs and geekbench like usual, as opposed to a statement from Nvidia.

It's gonna happen eventually, probably when the market normalizes a bit more because they can't divert more silicon to a new SKU

Yeah I'm pretty sure Nvidia committed to an "RTX only" launch this cycle due to the improved RTX performance across the board
