Adhered Mounting Bracket Removal?

Go to solution Solved by bmx6454,

could try a little bit of heat, with a hair dryer, or heat gun if you have one handy. just be sure not to have the temps high enough to damage/melt anything. do you have a picture of what you mean?

Hello,

I'm trying to install a Scythe FUMA2 air cooler on a pre-built HPOmen830-110. I can't remove the mounting bracket on the motherboard — it's like fucking glued to the motherboard (I did remove the front screws that hold the retention bracket). I am also unable to just make due because the screws on the AIO cooler that came with the desktop are too small, meaning the Fuma 2's screws are too big.

Is there a way to remove this thing without damaging the motherboard?

Thank you for your time!

Yeah, it's right here. https://imgur.com/a/DvJyVVt  I could provide some more if needed; I'm going to give the hairdryer thing a shot.

If the heat doesn't work you can try 90+ isopropyl alcohol to soften the glue and try to get under it with a old credit card or similar sideways. That has worked for me on ones that were held in with double sides tape. Just don't push to hard on the card sliding it in, make sure to go parallel to the board, and take it slow. If it seems to be working at all, just repeat applying the isopropyl let sit for a bit and try to slide the card further. Don't push real hard on it.
