Hello!

I'm in the planning process of building a Razer oriented PC and would welcome some feedback. This is not going to be a budget PC by any means. My main concern is, with all the parts I've researched and am considering, would I have any serious problems down the line? Or maybe if there are better alternatives that I haven't found that would go great with this build instead. I've also been considering waiting for AM5/DDR5/PCIe5.0 to come out as well.

So far I've only got the case, the other components I'm willing to tweak if there's a solid enough reason.

Case: Razer Tomahawk Mid-ATX Tower

Motherboard: ASRock Taichi X570 Razer Edition

CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5900X

GPU: EVGA FTW 3080 (Maybe 3080ti when it's available)

RAM: G.Skill Trident Z DDR4-3600MHz (32gb 2x16gb)

PSU: EVGA P2 1200W 80+ Platinum

CPU cooler: NZXT Kraken Z73 AIO

Storage: Samsung 980 Pro M.2

what are you using this build for? some of the components seem very overkill and overpriced, like the PSU, cooler and ssd.

if mostly gaming, you also don't need a 5900x, a 5600x or 5800x are enough.

It's going to be for gaming, video editing, and streaming. There's also the potential for some creative works as well but I haven't gotten that far yet. I'm okay with overkill and overprice so long as I don't run into any serious bottlenecks or compatibility issues in the future.

it's fine then, no bottlenecks there.

Pcie 5.0 isnt coming out for a while. DDR5 still wont hugely give a performance boost as most cpus don't benefit from most high end ddr4 speeds much less ddr5

That's a fair point as well. I just didn't know if anyone had any further insight on that upcoming generation, given the current shortages going on now.

From what we know so far next gen cpus will possibly have ddr5 support and 2 generations from now will almost definately have it. Pcie gen 5 is anywhere from 2-10 generations away. Its hard to predict

just keep in mind you need a gpu for the pc to run, as the 5900x doesn't have an integrated gpu. so you can't really build and use your pc until you manage to get a gpu

Yea that's been my biggest drawback and also part of the reason I haven't ordered any of the parts yet. I'm hoping to maybe get in to the verified gamer program but I've also considered the fact I may have to fork over for the 3080, or possibly go with something lesser until the market normalizes again.
