What to buy?

notAfanOf

I read the pinned post about displays - a very good post - and they definitely know what they're talking about. But it leaves me with a serious question:

If I don't have 500€ to spend (on a computer monitor) where does that leave me? Do I go as cheap as possible and hope for the best, or should I stop gaming altogether?

ps: my budget (for a monitor) is about 300€. I play mostly single player games and edit my personal photos on the computer.

You buy what you need.If you game on older pc,or you dont even play competitive games where 120+ hz matter and 60 hz would be enough for you,or if 1080p is good enough for you, then there is a lot of options under 300$

There are lots of monitors for under 300. 300 can even get you a nice one.
Personally I really like dell monitors, even second hand.
Also iiyama makes some cheap monitors that can look good for the price.
Don't expect higher than 60hz or fancy features. But a nice looking 60hz 1080p IPS panel can be had for around 150

I make Rainmeter things and other art :D

what features/specs do I look for in a 300€ monitor? what can I expect at that price point?

gtx 1060(6gb) - so no more than 1080p; but I want to be prepared for when gpu prices are less painful again (hope soon)

or does 1080p look really bad on a 1440 monitor?

only cheaper if I buy used... but if I can save any of my budget elsewhere, I'll reallocate it to the monitor and keep that one in mind! 👍
