Get a new more expensive 3070 or a cheaper 2070 laptop.

Hello guys. So I am looking to buy a new laptop. I want to get a portable one for university, but still powerful enough to play games on it. So I have 2 options. There is an Asus Rog Strix Scar 15 (2021) with the AMD Ryzen 7 5800H and RTX 3070 (i don't remember the W on this one), 1TB SSD,  300hz 1080p for around 2200$. Or an Asus Rog StrixG512LW FullHD 144Hz (15.6" i7-10750H, 16Gb DDR4, 512Gb M.2 PCIe, RTX 2070 8Gb) for 1.648,32$. I can buy another M.2 for the 2070 one and have the same 1T for 100$ so memory doesn't really matter.

I play all kind of games, from the likes of RDR2 , Cyberpunk, Witcher 3 to competitive fps games like CSGO.

From what i've seen in benchmark videos at 1080p it's not really that big of a difference in terms of fps (correct me if i am wrong). I don't really care about the laptop screen because I plan to bring my main monitor with me and use that.

My question is if it's worth the 600$ for the GPU and CPU upgrade.  Thanks for your help.

pretty much yeah. Or a g14 with 3060 80W which is pretty much the same 2070 performance but it's again like 400-350 more expensive.

It's not the same perf.

If these are the only options, go for G533 (or G513 if available)

well it's 60-80W on the g14 and from what i've seen on 1080p, same performance +- some fps the 2070 is not max q.

80W is after dynamic boost, depending on games it might not activate (total power is 100W for G14, which left only 20W to CPU - in some CPU heavy games dynamic boost won't activate)

3060M 80W (without dynamic boost) should be comparable with 2070M 115W

Think it's worth the 600-700$ for gaming at 1080p? Oh and that one is not even from a shop. I guess it's a guy who bought it from America and brought it back to make some profit but you never know if it has issues. The box is not opened but i don't get warranty i think.

I found something interesting.

ASUS ROG Strix G15 G513QM-HQ069, AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX pana la 4.6GHz 15.6" WQHD 2k 165Hz, 16:9, 300nits, 1:1000, Adaptive-Sync 16GB SSD 512GB NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 6GB 130w for 1700$

Now that i would buy, but i don't know much about this variant, i should watch a review. You know anything?

Like i said, i will mostly use the laptop screen as a 2nd monitor cause I have a 24inch 144hz fhd so i don't really care.

So they don't have that one in stock and probably it won't be soon. They have ASUS ROG Strix SCAR 15 G533QM-HF005, AMD Ryzen 7 5800H pana la 4.4GHz, 15.6" Full HD, 16GB, SSD 512GB, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 (also 130) for about 50$ more. It's Strix Scar and from what i've heard Scar is a better quality Strix. I just don't know how much worse this Ryzen 7 5800H is compared to the Ryzen 9 5900HX. This one is FHD but has 300hz.
