@FakeKGB I just meant based on what they're currently running for something to feel "retro" to them.

Ah, ok. XP wouldn't run too great on a 500 MHz P3, though.

Should I do windows 98 se with pentium 3 and a voodoo 3 or should I do pentium 4 with windows 2000 and a voodoo 5

Windows 2000 is basically 98 SE but with more RAM support. P4's are better suited for XP gaming rigs, plus they're slightly easier to find in working condition.

In this case, I'd go P4 + decent video card + XP 32-bit.

PLEASE STOP [Killing] ME I WILL GIVE Y OU ANOTHER DEAL.

Well I would do p4 with 32 xp but my first gaming rig had xp 32 p4 and I can't remember what gpu but I think it was an old nvidia it had 1gb ram and a light scribe from when they first came out

That's better suited for a 98 SE/Win2000 build, not an XP build.

1 GHz P3's aren't as common, since P4's could go past that (I think).

i don't think anyone has asked this, what games your running, we don't want to get a cpu adbn then, "poor performance" because p3 cant hit 1ghz
