You can totally pair a apu with a gpu there is nothing saying it's problem or you can't.

 

We do need more info tho:

 

What is your budget?

What is your usecase that you need a gpu?

What is your psu (model not just wattage and efficiency)

Possibly what is your case in case it's a small one.

that doesn't matter the apu is still a CPU, just not a "full CPU" performance since some is dedicated to graphics.

But a lot will do better than integrated graphics (graphics on a CPU like an apu). If for gaming, then a GPU will push a lot more as dedicated graphics run a lot better but again will make the integrated graphics now useless, unless you are troubleshooting.
