System shuts down randomly

I have been running without problems for the last few days on the original config.

It restarted again, so i had an idea. I swapped the motherboards and checked the socket. I found some bent pins and one broken pinhead.

According to the 1150 intel spreadsheet the broken one is G10 (PEG_RXN5) which is used for PCI Express Receive Differental Pair. (it would make sense)

The other 2 pins that are a bit weird are M17 (VCC->Ground) and B4 (VSS->Ground).

I hope i read the spreadsheet correctly, the pins are so small.

So i guess the broken pin is what caused the problem, but it is still not 100% though. I'm gonna run this system for a while and report back.

I don't know if these pins still in contact with the cpu, so it is just a wild guess but seems logical to me. The bitlocker shutdown problem is also gone, it does not enter a restart loop and shuts down corretly.

Random suggestion, but are you using Windows OS?  If so, disable Focus Assist:

I had the same behavior on my computer, random restarts, and thought something was going bad--some hardware part.  Finally stumbled on some discussions of people having the same behavior and tried disabling Focus Assist.  No more random reboots immediately after that, been solid for 3 months since.

When you pulled the gpu, is it now working?

It is working with or without it, but reboots at random intervals.

That's not a shut down.  That's a reboot.

If the PSU was overheating, the PSU would shut off and stay off.

Fair enough. But also when it restarts and it is on the bitlocker screen, it automatically (should) shut down after 60 seconds. But the system restarts instead.

Thanks for the heads up. Since it was buggy (just like every windows feature) i always disable it. I think i wasn't turned on before.

I saw a comment on reddit, where the OP mentioned that his GPU was going bad. My problem is similar, and the symptoms are about the same but is so incosistent that i don't know if the GPU is faulty or not.

I have been running without problems for the last few days on the original config.

Wow!  Crazy!  Well.. that'll do it, for sure!

I hope so 🙂 Luckily there is a very high rated person on a local hardware/tech site who does socket and pin repairs. I’ll give it a shot.

Thanks for everyone who tried to help, i hope this is the end of my problems.

Have a nice day 🙂
