Just changed company. There is no massive ping spikes like this during the day or after 12 at night.  We just changed company. 5 years of trash internet. for 1 year it was constantly high ping, a few months it was fine. and other few months of high ping spikes and then it was fine. then for the last 6 months it was constantly cutting out in the afternoon every 20mins but only for 10 seconds or so. We switched company and it was fine for the first few days but now im getting ping like this in the afternoon.

This surely cant be normal. Or even because of lots of users as its a bank holiday. 2021 this cant be normal for ping spikes to 1000.
I just want to play some games in the afternoon...

Could be a lot of things, if it's mostly stable otherwise, probably some kind of interference. A strong antenna might compensate for that but depending on where you are in relation to the provider and what's in between, there is a lot that can cause those spikes.

Not sure how it is all setup where you game but I have had less issues connecting my smartphone to the laptop for gaming. I had pretty good experiences in Marbella and north of Barcelona with Orange (~ 64ms on average, max 140 ms if I remember correctly). I haven't been to Spain recently, maybe the general load on the networks have gone up to the point where the routers drop the connection every so often. Our business partner in Madrid uses Movistar wireless. So far the connection has been stable when conferencing. Haven't tried playing any games with her though.

Can you rule out issues on your end? Can you check if the router is cutting out as well or just your computer?

Its just happening in the afternoon. I have a thread from over a year about my old ISP.  We upgraded only a few days ago. The old ISP would email back saying we had to lower youtube video resolution to stop it cutting out. After midnight I can be downloading games, youtube and playing a game and it would be fine. It started lagging in the afternoon yesterday and Ive been playing Mordhau tonight with horrible spikes.
Im using Ethernet too. It does it on our living room pc and on my phone. Its definitely not my pc. Likely in an hour it will stop when it gets to midnight.

On Morhau its lagging terribly but on League of Legends (ive found its one of the best quick and easy games to test ping in custom games) its stable 45-52.  It did spike to 180 but its not spiking to 600-1000 when it does on meter.net ping test.
