Budget ($800 USD):

Country: USA

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: No Man's Sky, Fallout (various) RPG and shooters.

Other details I have a Zotac 1080Ti GPU I wish to continue to use NZXT M22 AIO, Corsair 1000w power supply and Samsung Por 970 M.2 along with 3 2.5 SSD.

I have about $800 to spend I want to upgrade my CPU and Motherboard. I could do a z490 and i5 10600k and have some money left for other things (New AIO more fans, better mouse) or go with, I would get MSI Gaming force z590 and i5 11600k since this would support PCIe 4.0 I could get a M.2 Samsung 980 pro. If I go with the 10th gen I could get the MSI MEG Unify and i5 10600k leaving me with enough to get (I really want to upgrade my case and AIO) Since getting a new GPU is not an option I will continue to use my Nvidia 1080Ti. Opinions and advice would be welcome. Thank you.

Why not amd?

You could spend >500$ on a good b550  (say b550-f gaming) gand a 5600x (better than a 10600k). Then you have 300$ to spend in new aio or whatever.

I could use some help with this!

please, pm me if you would like to contribute to my gpu bios database (includes overclocking bios, stock bios, and upgrades to gpus via modding)

That is some great advice. I shopped AMD but could not find anything in the price range you suggest with the features I would like (See MSI Z590 Gaming Force) THe CPU itself is $400.

What features do you want exactly that the z590 gaming force has?

First off it supports PCIe 4.0 I like that it has a "debug" display I love that is has BOIS Flashback plenty of USB on the rear panel and 2.5 GB Ethernet and the M.2 slot 1 is CPU ran.

Seems like you are in the market for an x570 board instead of a b550.

edit: it seems like a good b550 board can actually have all these features without being x570

I know the b550-f gaming has bios flashback, plenty of rear USB, and the first m2 is CPU. I'd have to check for a debug display.

Most b550s have this. Unless you need more than one gen4 m2, there's little point in x570.

The strix b550f gaming has a 2 eight segment debug display.

And 7 rear USB.

I did find an AMD board that has everything I want and can fit in my price range. The board is Asrock b550 TaiChi. It says needs BIOS update for 5000 series. I'm looking at a 5600x (will have to wait but I can preorder.) The USB instability issue is a concern so I have been an "Intel Guy" for many years and would love to be converted. does this sound like a good build to give me say 5 or 6 years of good service? Thank you
