My friend has an itx motherboard and 2 dims of identical ram but they aren't working. When used in the 1 slot they both work independently and the computer functions as usual. but when anything is plugged into the 2 slot nothing works. Not even if the only ram in the system is in the 2 slot. Computer spins up but no output onto the monitor.

The ram is the exact same. Its 2x8gb but it is 2 seperate 8gb versions of the same thing. (one bought while building, the second bought recently to upgrade. They were bought from the same link though. I asked him for the specs and ill get back to you on them

Not the same. It could have different memory chips and be incompatible.

I'm not actually trying to be as grumpy as it seems.
