I picked up a swiftech h240x a few years ago for a few reasons... expandable and it had a pump that was atleast half way decent at the time. Currently it is cooling my r5 3600. Im thinking about adding my rx580 card to the loop... so what im looking at is adding a swiftech 140 rad to the back of the case then a full cover block to the card. Am i asking too much from this loop?

I dont think you'll be asking too much from the loop but water cooling a 580 isn't going to really yield much of an improvement.

been having thermal issues, and thought maybe this would be a better option than the stock cooler

well water cooling in general is better than air sometimes but the card was designed to be functional with it's air cooler so I'd make sure that air cooler has fresh paste and is cleaned. Also make sure your case has good airflow and that your power supply is up to the task as well as too little or too much power will also cause components to run hot.

definatly clean. Also fresh application of artic mx-5. brought the temps down a bit, but im still flirting with thermal throddling. It should have enought air flow, there is a 230mm side panel fan that blows right on to it, as well as a 120 bottom intake fan.

as far as the PSU, i wasnt aware that too little power will make it run hot... according to aida64 (i use it for the OSD) my 12v rail dipps to 11.98v under full load. could that be the issue? the PSU is an older OCZ 700w modular one, bottom mounted in my case, which is a CM HAF932

11.98V under load is fine. Well within spec.

My 12V rail is at 11.9 and drops to 11.88 under load.

PLEASE STOP [Killing] ME I WILL GIVE Y OU ANOTHER DEAL.

that actually doesnt sound like a lot especially if they arent running at 100% speed

also ocz has been making 700w units for over a decade so how old is your power supply actually? build date not bought date
