@ThomasTech

PCPartPicker part list: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/3gX6T
Price breakdown by merchant: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/3gX6T/by_merchant/
Benchmarks: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/3gX6T/benchmarks/

CPU: Intel Core i5-4670K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($189.99 @ Micro Center) <-- in-store only!
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler  ($33.98 @ SuperBiiz) <-- Optional
Motherboard: Asus Z87-A ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($129.99 @ NCIX US) <-- If not interested in SLI, can spend much less money on this component.
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory  ($67.50 @ Newegg) <-- Get the least expensive 1600Mhz, 9-9-9-24, 1.5v RAM you can find.  Brand doesn't matter
Storage: PNY XLR8 120GB 2.5" Solid State Disk  ($64.99 @ TigerDirect) <-- This is cheap for 120GB
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive  ($84.81 @ Amazon)
Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 780 3GB Video Card  ($499.99 @ NCIX US) <-- Get the best possible GPU you can afford.  Will improve your performance the most.  Should be 40%-50% of your overall budget.
Case: Raidmax ATX-249B (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case  ($23.25 @ Newegg) <-- Get the least expensive case you can, case doesn't have an impact on performance.
Power Supply: Corsair CX 600W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply  ($64.99 @ Micro Center) <-- These used to be only $40.  Wait for them to go on sale again.
Optical Drive: Samsung SH-224DB/BEBE DVD/CD Writer  ($15.98 @ OutletPC)<-- Use an old one from a previous computer, or get the least expensive one you can find.
Total: $1171.48
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

If you need an operating system, add another $100.

For $1200, this is a beast of a computer.  If you aren't interested in SLI, and do some deal hunting, you can bring the price down to around $1000.  For $1000, it will be tough to build a better computer than this.

No point getting 16GB ram just for gaming. 8GB is plenty.

You need both a k series cpu and z87 chipset to oc your cpu.

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/3iZVm i think this is gonna be my build.

What's with the more expensive blue ram that mismatches with the gold of your motherboard?

No aftermarket cooler?

Why a smaller and slower hdd?

Why a non-modular psu?

I'm was pointing out the differences that would make the list worst that what I suggested while costing $50 more.

If you're going to spend $50 more for worse hardware, I thought I'd at least point it out to make sure you know what you're doing.

I just love how every one suggestion forgets to mention the OS, since it's a required item, unless you wanna do eg spreadsheets on SteamOS? :S
