Hello,I'm new here, and wanted to ask a question, that i can't see the answer of. The question is,why would my cpu heat more than before, while having direct airflow from the front of the case (master case pro 5). It is a it 9600k overclocked to 5.0ghz,and with the drive cages (3.5" and 5.25") it used to go up to 76 degrees at 100 percent load. But now, with direct airflow (from three fans on the front) to the cpu cooler,i goes up to 87 degrees, which i find weird.

My hypothesis would be that the thermal paste either dried up,which would be weird,it wasn't like a couple day ago,or there actually is too much air,and the cpu fan can't keep up. The cooler i have is a dark rock 4 from Be Quiet ! .

Thanks for reading and/or replying !

because your room is circulating the air over and over, the pc is a mini heater.

That's generally how it goes in the summer. Winter overclocks are put back on the shelf, unless you have AC or you move a shitload of air and have a badass cooler..

5GHz is still nothing to sneeze at. It is easier to hit those clocks now, but I have been trying to get a screen shot of 5GHz since 2008 lol.

Came close.. 😄

This is going to be hot all day.  I would just back it down to 4.9 or 4.8

I have a 9600k at 5.2 and it is still never over 75. Its a NH-U12S so not even a super beefy cooler (centralized ac though if that makes a difference)

Maybe check for airflow impeding things, like if you have a comressor, remove the cpu fan, and clean the heatsink
