Thanks for the speedy response, good man.

Every build I do it's always the case fans (and controlling them using mobo or software) that's a huge f*cking headache.

So, I have 2 Be Quiet Silent Wings 3. Turns out they're the DC version - Amazon page didn't mention this. They come with a sata connector with 3 cables attached - 5V, 7V and 12V. And Be Quiet didn't think to mention this in their 1 page documentation.

And searching on Google just gives ads for Silent Wings.

So, LTT buddies, which voltage should I use?

Thanks

I think the backside of the fan's hub has a sticker which should have print with the required voltage and amperage needed to run. If it states which voltage to use, use that one.

Fuck you scalpers, fuck you scammers, fuck all of you jerks that charge way too much to tech-illiterate people.

Unless I say I am speaking from experience or can confirm my expertise, assume it is an educated guess.

Current setup: Ryzen 5 3600, MSI MPG B550, 2x8GB DDR4-3200, RX 5600 XT (+120 core, +320 Mem), 1TB WD SN550, 1TB Team MP33, 2TB Seagate Barracuda Compute, 500GB Samsung 860 Evo, Corsair 4000D Airflow, 650W 80+ Gold. Razer peripherals.

Also have a Alienware Alpha R1: i3-4170T, GTX 860M (≈ a 750 Ti). 2x4GB DDR3L-1600, Crucial MX500

a follow up question, do I need to use the sata cable? Can't I just connect the 3 pin cable to a 4 pin connector on the mobo?

Sorry but I can't answer that, I don't even trust myself to get fan hubs and adapters right given my prior experience and how many times I have fucked up.

if we talking non rgb 3pin fan then ya 3 pin can go on a 4pin pwm header same as a 4pin pwm can go on a 3pin fan header just no pwm.
