So i wanted to mirror one of my HDD's with intels rapid storage technology. I have 2 HDD's, both 1TB. One empty and one with data on.

I activated RAID in bios.

I went to Intels software and selected the both drives and created a new volume. Afterwards it told me to activate the volume in windows. But windows wants to format the entire drive. I dont want to lose my files. How do i reverse this process?

A) Sorry I can't read your screenshot because I dont' read swedish, (I used to have a swedish housemate and as far as I can remember this looks like swedish, correct me if I'm wrong).

B) For future reference you need to highlight your text URL and turn it into a clickable hyperlink by selecting the chain icon in the reply box.

C) I would personally suggest using a software based raid using Window's Storage Spaces. It should be way simpler to setup and less problematic.

Fuck you scalpers, fuck you scammers, fuck all of you jerks that charge way too much to tech-illiterate people.

Unless I say I am speaking from experience or can confirm my expertise, assume it is an educated guess.

Storage spaces works in windows 10 home, so thats not a issue here.

But wouldn't you have to format both drives by default when you create the Storage space pool? They have data they want to keep on 1 of the drives.

Could they add the single empty drive to a pool and copy all of the date onto that drive then format and add the other drive to the pool? It has been awhile since I have configured Storage spaces but I think Storage spaces is pretty forgiving on adding new drives to a pool.

Basically every raid setup requires formatting both drives to make a raid setup.

Yea you can make a pool with one drive and copy the data, but why both, just set it up right, and copy files from backups. If you don't have backups Id really reccomenend not using raid and using the second drive for backups.
