Hi everyone, basically I installed Final Fantasy 15 on pc and I know the game is heavy but I didn't expect it to heat my rtx 2070 to 80 degrees on the first run. I turned everything graphic setting to low and for now it's sitting at a 56-62 degrees which is not bad. I have 2 front fans 1 rear fan and a 1 fan cpu cooler. After playing for about an hour my temp stays at 60 deg then go back to idle temp (33ish), I launched Apex and my gpu started to heat up to 71 deg. Is this a dust issue or should I consider changing my case for better air intake. (When my gpu heats a lot my cpu heats up to max 52 deg). Thanks for your help :)

Your GPU may be in a quiet mode, either in a physical BIOS switch or a lower maximum fan speed configuration that can be over-ridden by tools like MSI Afterburner.

I would check out MSI afterburner (it works on all dedicated GPUs, not just those by MSI) and set the bottom slider to a higher number, and then run GPU benchmarks to see what the temperatures are like. Continue to ramp up the fan speed until you hit one of these three things:

  1. The right hand side of the slider, obviously.
  2. A noise level that is just too load for you to bear.
  3. Your GPU temps are around 70C at higher settings.

Fuck you scalpers, fuck you scammers, fuck all of you jerks that charge way too much to tech-illiterate people.

Unless I say I am speaking from experience or can confirm my expertise, assume it is an educated guess.

open up your side panel while the PC is running, see if temps drop by a lot

if it does then you probably have a case with poor airflow

while you're at it, make sure all the fans are spinning when it's under load

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

can you tell us a little more about your setup?......what case do you have?....what is your cable management situation?......where is the case located (carpet, shelf, corner....etc. etc.)

dust could be an issue....doesn't hurt to keep things clean....but need to know more about your config. to point at something specific as the cause

what type of cooler is on the GPU?....is it dual fan or triple fan?.....have you looked to make sure all the fans on the GPU cooler are spinning while you game?

cable management is okay, idk the case brand but the only airflow possible is front to back, the top is fully covered and it's located in the corner of my room. My gpu is a dual fan and yes they are both spinning

Found that that my front fans are facing opposite directions(pc was prebuilt).

Well I'm glad you got that sorted, but man, what a screw-up on the SI's part...

So basically, after roughly 20 minutes of playing ffxv max gpu temp was 55 degrees and from 50 it gradually went up so I think I might have to change my case and my airflow...

For now I put the pocket edition character model mod to reduce the frames etc and it seems to be working. Does anyone have a suggestion on a good case that is rather cheap?

Thank you all!
