Hardware Acceleration Issue

Go to solution Solved by manikyath,

i'd just DDU and reinstall your nvidia drivers and see if that fixes things.

i'd be surprised if this was a firmware issue, because then it would affect EVERY 1650 super, and cause thousands of support/rma tickets.

also worth trying:

open CMD as administrator and run the following command:

sfc /scannow

that'll make sure windows itself is at least not the culprit.

Hi All,

I've bought an additional monitor last December and plugged it thru Displayport. It's an ASUS VP249QGR. Making my setup as Dual monitor. While I've owned HKC plugged into HDMI

After days of using both monitors I noticed that it started to have a weird freezing issues.

It's a freeze that I can use my mouse but I can't open or close any program that I want to use.

I can also minimize the programs that are already opened but cannot close it.

After checking my task manager I noticed that the Video Encode process is on -1% and other task manager graph is on freeze. (as you can see on the pic)

The only solution that I can solve this issue is to long press the power button.

I searched it online recently and someone said it could be a hardware acceleration issue.

It can only fix if I update the firmware of my GPU.

Anyone can help? Any possible solution?

Now I tried to turn off every hardware acceleration in each programs I use but sometimes the issue still persist even if I don't do anything.

My PC Specs:

R5 2600
ASUS TUF Pro-Gaming
Gigabyte 1650 Super
Avexir Core 2 32Gb Ram (4x8, running at 2800mhz XMP)
Samsung Evo 860
Seagate Barracuda 1TB
Cooler Master MWE 550 Bronze

Before touching the firmware make sure the software is good first. probably won't help but it doesn't have the risk of breaking anything and you don't want to attempt the more difficult repair first to find out that it was the easy repair that was required.

Download DDU run the software in safe mode run it for all 3 options intel, Amd and Nvidia and then reinstall the graphics card drivers.

I've tried sfc /scannow and nothing found.

I've tried to restart my windows install and bring back to it's original state but the issue still persist.

I don't know if its the program I'm using has issues or what.

I'm using 2 different refresh rates of monitor BTW. ASUS is 144hz and my main monitor while the HKC is 75hz.

Might also cause the issue. I don't know

Which software? You mean the driver? The driver is fine and it's working perfectly. I'm also afraid to touch any firmware thing. It might worsen up the issue

it clearly isnt, because your system is freezing.

run DDU and reinstall the latest nvidia drivers from their website.

Yes the driver, they can become corrupt the only way to confirm they aren't is a full removal and reinstall.

I'm now installing the graphics driver. Just finished running DDU in safe mode. Will reply again if the issue still persist after this one. Thank you!

Is there any chance that this might also cause by my monitors? I'm using 2 different refresh rates of monitors.

not unless there's some other deeply rooted issue like broken drivers, a broked windows install, or a hardware issue.

It's me again,

after using my PC for more than 12hours, hardware acceleration turned on in chrome and other software I use, the issue never occur again.

Maybe it's just the driver I used before is corrupted or what.

Thank you for the suggestion. Will repost again if the issue still occur after a few days.
