My games keep crashing

Go to solution Solved by Bubberiffic,

I would try to reinstall your Graphics Card drivers and then restart your system and see if that works. If you ever overclocked it; put it back down to its default clocks, because that could be the issue.

So I yesterday in the morning i played Cod MW and it was totally normal, and after i stopped playing it I saw that my gpu has its own software that i can use to control it, but i already had Msi afterburner so i deleted afterburner and installed the Inno3d software. After i had set it up i noticed my gpu temps were higher than usual, i tried fixing it in the Inno3d software but no luck, so i deleted the inno3d software and reinstalled Msi afterburner. And after awhile i played GTA V and about 30 mins later an error acurred and i just restarted the game but it didnt stop happening, so i tried COD again but it kept crashing aswell. So i looked up the errors and i noticed that all errors say that it might be somthing with some sort of a overlay error, so i disbled the discord overlay and the nvidia geforce experience overlay but still no luck. PLEASE HEEELPPPPPPP!!

When the games crash to they completely bork the system requiring an on / off or is it just a CTD (crash to desktop)?

Have you looked at the Windows 'system' and 'application' logs to see if they report anything decipherable.

What are your GPU temps?

What is your system spec?

CPU temps?

Try DDU (driver uninstaller) to get rid of ALL drivers and the reinstall.

Run everything at stock (no OCs on either CPU or GPU)

Are the CPU / GPU fans ramping up as the load / temps increase

Reinstall Windows (clean install)

Sometimes when the game crashes it says the error (on COD it says its Dev error 6068)but sometimes it just crashes and closes and goes to desktop.

No i havent, how to do i do that?

What are your GPU temps?

Idle around 31 degrees C,  in game from 50 to 65 degrees C

What is your system spec?

I3 9100f

Gtx 1650 Super

12 gb ram

128 gb ssd

2x 500 gb hdd

Gigabyte H310M m.2 2.0

CPU temps?

Idle around 35 degrees C, ingame about 55 degrees C

Try DDU (driver uninstaller) to get rid of ALL drivers and the reinstall.

i will

Run everything at stock (no OCs on either CPU or GPU)

i will try it too

Are the CPU / GPU fans ramping up as the load / temps increase

the are but cant ramp at at full load because the game crashes sooner

Reinstall Windows (clean install)

type 'computer management' into your search bar

see pic below.

Don't worry about the vast majority of warning or errors as they are either normal or nothing to worry about.

Right click on the 'Application' and 'System' text to the left and click 'clear'.

Start the game and take note of the rough time it throws a wobbler then go back into the logs and take a loot at around that time to see if there is anything of interst.

I'd seriously recommend a Windows reinstall or even a reset. Settings > Update & Security > Recovery > Reset This PC.

It tends to be the only way to help diagnose bugs and glitches as it rules out a dodgy Windows Install. If the game still crashed with a fresh and fully updated Windows 10 install, up-to-date drivers and only that game installed then your now looking at a hardware fault.

Assuming your Win install is on an SSD and you have a half decent broadband connection then it shouldn't take more than 30mins.

I do it all the time to keep things as lean and clean as possible.

I forgot to say,

if you see a warning or error in the System logs referring to nvlddmkm that has stopped responding then its pointing to an Nvidia driver crash. Alternatively if you see entries in the 'Application' logs whinging about a GTAV.exe or COD.exe (probably not accurate) or errors or warning about direct x then it almost certainly software.

Nah, it's not drivers, it's a run time issue most likely.   Reinstalling windows "probably" fixes it.

You could also write down the errors you're getting and actually ask the devs or game forums...  it's unlikely someone here would know what runtimes exactly needs fixing,  the devs however should definitely know.
