OK, so I am a 13 year old kid that knows more and says more than I probably should. I had an account on this forum a while ago, but forgot all the log-in information so here I am to start over. I am now planning to have a build for $500 USD. I already have an XFX 7770, so I am excluding a GPU from the budget. Here is my plan:

Case: Fractal Design Core 1000

CPU: AMD 760K

CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo

MOBO: MSI-A78M-E35

GPU: XFX 7700

PSU: CX430M

RAM: Adata XPG V2 4x2GB @ 1.6 GHz
Storage: WD Blue 1TB

Disk Drive: Whatever is cheapest on NewEgg.

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit OR if anyone wants to give me a windows 8 OEM, I hate windows 8.1... with a passion.

Do you think this is a good idea? I am in need of an upgrade for my current PC. It has done me well for the past 3 years, or so, but I need to retire it. Also, with this PC I am looking forward to upgrading it in any way I can when I have the money to do so.

Any CONSTRUCTIVE criticism is welcomed!

[EDIT] I made a new list of parts, some that I think are a better value, and will last longer:

Are you limited to newegg or are you open to other US vendors?

I don't know about xfx quality, I would get a 7770 or 7750 from MSI or Asus. And why do you hate windows 8.1, it is better than 8. Other than that that PC should last you for a while.

Main PC:

ASUS F1A55-M LX, AMD A6-3500, (2x2)gb Kingston HyperX Blu DDR3 1600mhz, Seagate Barracuda 500gb 7200rpm,
 Corsair CX430M, Cooler Master Elite 343, Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit

Netbook:

Lenovo Ideapad S10-2, Intel Atom N280, (1x1)gb DDR2 667mhz, WD Scorpio Blue 250gb 5400rpm, Zorin OS 9 Lite

He already has it.

Its like the SAME Crap.

Win8.1 can have some issues with gaming mice and whatnot that Win8 doesn't have.

And its not a driver issue? They should be able to fix that if the driver was for win 8.1.

It may be either just the driver or a Win8.1 issue--don't remember exactly.

I am open to other vendors, but I just like to buy things all at once from the same vendor... Never want to send a Newegg return box to NCIX...

I picked the 270 because it is quite a bit more powerful than the 7770

Yes, I know, but I would probably just end up selling the 7770 down the road and getting a different card anyway. I want to have this be as upgradable as possible also.

They mean the same thing... 4x2 means 8, and so does 2x4... le confuz

4x2GB = four 2GB sticks.

2x4GB = two 4GB sticks

I am open to other vendors, but I just like to buy things all at once from the same vendor... Never want to send a Newegg return box to NCIX...

Oh yeah, what's the system being used for?

Mostly just some gaming @1680x1050, but not much more. SUPER light video editing, and some music production here and there.

Ahh. Regarding your original parts list. The 212 Evo will not fit in the Core 1000.

I'd suggest going with a case like the N200 instead.

Are you dead set on oc'ing?

I would like to OC, but its not really top on the list. I plan to upgrade this system over time and if money allows. I made a new PCPartPicker list http://pcpartpicker.com/p/34T4C
