840 Evo writing faster than reading

I have had my 1tb 840 evo since Christmas and I have noticed that it is not as snappy feeling as my older 830 was. I ran the Samsung magician performance test and the write speed is at a pretty good place but the read seems kind of low. I have RAPID mode enables and it is all hooked up correctly. I have also noticed that boot up is taking a lot longer than it used to, about a min. Any help or suggestion are appreciated.
