I updated my gta 5 expecting ~70% faster speeds. Which is ~5min. It ended up being ~88%, which is 1min 55s. Originally it was like 16min. I have a athlon x4 860k OCd to 4ghz, 10gb of ram and a gtx 970. The gta 5 is on a 8yr old laptop hdd (Still gets normal speeds in CrystalDiskMark). I am quite amazed about this patch.

You have to keep in mind that the guy who figured out the issue did not have access to the source code, so his "patch" was more of a workaround. If you're interested in a more technical explanation, his blog post is quite interesting: https://nee.lv/2021/02/28/How-I-cut-GTA-Online-loading-times-by-70/

I'm not surprised to see that the official patch is even faster, because the developers (with access to the source code) can fully replace the offending JSON parser with a faster implementation. It's nice to see they reacted this quickly (after his post) but at the same time somewhat weird they never analyzed the issue themselves beforehand.
