Depends on my use case.

i9 10900K or Ryzen 9 5900X. Those are the best in my opinion.

But if I would consider price to performance, I would go for a i9 9900K, which are really cheap now.

If money was no issue, Threadripper Pro or Epyc.

Ryzen 9 3900X would be my choice for gaming/workstation after the i9 9900K since it's a good deal in my eyes.

10900K for the high-end of Intel right now, unless you want a Rocket Lake-S CPU coming out towards the end of this month, although waiting for more verified benchmarks with supported BIOS's to get a true picture of it's performance compared to the rumors they have right now. I'd pick Intel for it's platform stability, unless you want to encounter issues along the way with Ryzen. Also trying to overclock memory on Ryzen seems to be a hit or miss with their integrated memory controllers. 

 

Threadripper is kinda pointless due to the high core counts and depending on game's utilization of these cores may result in lower performance than their consumer Ryzen platform. Intel's HEDT is also pretty pointless until IPC improvements come with 10nm or 7nm whenever Intel, or even if, Intel will release new CPUs on HEDT. Intel's current offerings right now are still great choices, but if you want the best of the best, Ryzen 5000 series is the way to go right now.
