Noctua Heatsink fan placement

Hello, I am installing a Noctua nh-d15

and I’m not sure which level I should place the fan. (If I place it too high it will not fit) Does placing the fan at 6 fins down instead of 3 make that much of a difference?

It will make a small change but with 2 fans I doubt you'll notice it.

 

What cpu?

the idea is that you place the fans as low as they'll fit, but i seriously doubt that the height will be a measurable difference, within reason.
