Can I use a liquid cooling fan for my air cooled pc?

So I am building a pc and need a CPU cooler, can I use a liquid cooling fan for my air cooled pc? I'm kinda new to the tech world so please don't bash me too hard.

As long as the fan is the same size that you need, it will work both as a case fan or a CPU cooling fan.

Yes, you can, but doesn't mean you should.

Water cooling can break any time, if you're not experienced in maintaining a pc, don't.

Should I just start with air cooling, if so, what would you recommend? I have been trying to find a cooler for my my motherboard but all of them are just liquid coolers.

I have only used air cooling in my builds since 1995. 

Less moving parts, easier to maintain. 

It's like cars, you want more performance, then you are going to spend more and have to do more preventative maintenance to maintain that level of performance.
