Unable to get a 2nd NVMe SSD to work in an Asus ROG Strix B450-F

I am trying to get a second SSD running in the M.2_2 SSD slot but it is never recognized by the Motherboard, it never gets visible in the BIOS.

my system has an identical SSD runing properly in the M.2_1 slot and a SATA SSD disk (with the OS) connected to a SATA port

In ALL the information online I have searched, nothing says the second port needs any configuration to be active.  Every document I have seen talks about the M.2_1 Sharing PCI bandwidth with the GPU and SATA, not the M.2_2 .

SO, has anyone got their second M.2 port to work with an SSD AND 1 SATA disk plugged in?  if so how was the BIOS configured, and in what SATA port was the SATA disk connected?

ALSO both disks are working and have been tested in this very machine, just by swapping them.  they both already work in the M.2_1  port!

Help please!  🙂
