Budget (including currency): Approx. $1,000 USD

Country: USA

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for:  COD Warzone, Witcher 3, RD2, program for work called Case CATalyst (not an intensive program, I currently run it on a small cheap laptop)

Other details I'll be upgrading from gaming on an Xbox

1. Budget & Location

Ideally I would spend less than $1,000 USD on my first build, not including periphery items such as monitor, keyboard and mouse. Since I will use it for casual gaming I am just looking for a nice pc gaming experience without breaking the bank. I am not opposed to any suggestions that slightly exceed my budget because I would rather save up some more money than skimp out on something that I shouldn't. I am very new to this, and so looking at things like GPUs online is confusing for me in terms of real world application and what would be simply too much for what I will be using the pc for.

Given the budget, I expect to wait some time before prices perhaps come down a bit.

2. Aim

I am a very casual gamer, I usually play RPGs or BRs as stated above. I currently don't have any intentions to stream or run any video editing software on this pc. Also as I stated above, I will use it for work with a program called Case CATalyst. Right now I have been looking into AMD more than Intel but I am not opposed to an Intel build.

3. Monitors

I will only be using one monitor; ideally I would like to run games in 1080p or 1440p if that is within the budget.

4. Peripherals

I will need to purchase Windows.

5. Why are you upgrading?

I am not so much upgrading as much as making the change from console gaming to pc gaming.

Side Note: If anyone has suggestions on how to find graphics cards right now I would welcome any help! I am on a few waitlists (for example I have looked at the EVGA GeForce RTX 3060 XC)

Wait for the GPU shortage to stop. For now, try to find a used decent GPU as a placeholder.

Whilst waiting, try and save up more so you can get maybe a 3060/Ti.

Thanks so much for your response, do you have any suggestions on reputable sites I can buy a used GPU?

Sadly, I do not. Try searching on e-commerce sites that you usually use.
