Gaming PC questions

So im building a gaming pc but with many questionmarks regarding the choice of cpu and how much to spend on it.

The game im gonna be playing the most is World of Warcraft, and what i have read its a very cpu based/required game. How much of a cpu is needed to get a minimum of 100+ fps with (hopefully) 1440p resolution? The gpu is most probably gonna be a RTX 3070 (maybe a 2080 super).

 

I have thought about a Ryzen 5 5600x but is it enough for such a cpu required game? I have also had Ryzen 7 5800x and maybe a Ryzen 9 5900x in mind. If a 5600x is enough i will go with that though.
 

Other triple A titles will also be played so for those the RTX 2080 super or 3070 is clear it will be good gameplay with good enough fps (at least for me). 
 

I will be using a 27” WQHD 144hz monitor.

Streaming and gaming you want more Memory and cores. For just gaming a 5600X is a fine processors. Can't go wrong.

i think WoW is very CPU thread dependant (not cores, it don't scale too well i think? it's an old game after all)

so a 5600x or intel's 10th gen should do fine, but whether if it'll get 100fps is unknown, but those are the best candidates so if they cant then nothing else can.

 

5600x is a good gaming chip, if you can find one

or else, the 10400 from intel is decent if you're not overclocking.

 

going 8 core will not yield much difference in perf, other than slight boost in clock speed for higher end SKUs

5600x. It's as fast as a 10900k for gaming, it's in stock now, and it's cheeper.

For WoW, any modern CPU would be the bottleneck for any decent GPU

Since it's so thread heavy and not heavy on graphics

so you mean you can put a 2700x and a 750ti in it and it will be fine?

Define "fine"

 

Don't think it'll explode, but the 750ti is not a decent GPU in today's standard, so you may be limited by it

 

Though I'm not entirely sure if it'll be a problem for wow because it's such an old game, but I believe so

No. Unless your going to play at like 720p, a 5600x is plenty.

Budget: 3600 or 10400F

Mid: 3700X, 5600X or 10700

Anything over is just overkill...
