PSU choice

Budget (including currency): £80-£100 sterling

Country: UK

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: fairly lightweight QGIS, some graphic design.

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

i7 10700KF, Asus z490 motherboard, 32gb Corsair LPX, 500gb, Samsung M.2 with  low-ish graphics card (currently Radeon 6570 or something will get a £150 card when things calm down a bit IDK a GTX 1650 or equivalent)

Hi, I need a PSU for the above.  I've put the details into various PSU calculators Coolermaster say 520W, PCParts picker (detailed) say 400W....  I understand that PSU's are at their least efficient when idle/low demand and most efficient at mid-power.  MY PC can sit idle for some hours and I don't do much that's really heavy - rendering rasters or feature-intensive maps is probably the hardest work needed.  And I occasionally play Minecraft with the kids.

My priority is a solid, no-frills efficient PSU (Gold minimum)

I don't need modular as I have a cavernous EATX case and that lives out of sight under my desk, so looks aren't important either.

I'd appreciate any recommendations.

Many thanks

Well to put in prospective I've found that i ended up buying a PSU way-overkill for my build. Mine uses roughly 510-580 watts at full load which was quite surprising. I would say a good baseline is 500w for your build.

I'd suggest going for the BQSP 11 550W one.

Thanks, I've been looking too and so many brands have unlikely/low-grade sounding names which takes a bit of nerve to overcome. I'll investigate your suggestions, thanks.
