That's what's officially supported. Anything above is considered overclocking. Getting a RAM kit on the motherboard's QVL will help give you the best odds of it being able to run above 3200, but like all overclocking not guaranteed. 

 

Intel is the same, formally supporting 2933 MHz I believe, but higher will work in many cases.
