Storage Protocol for Cache Drive

I'm planning on getting a 250-256Gb SSD to use as a cache drive for my games using AMD's Store M.I. I'm just curious if there would be a significant enough performance between using a SATA SSD vs a NVME SSD?

It'll be fine. It's random access you need for speed and that you'll get even with SATA. Hell, even 550MB/s isn't that bad for sequential. It's still some 3x faster than any HDD.

Don't do it, it won't help much. You'll be wasting your time and only complicate things.

I forgot to mention that I have three seperate drives: A boot SSD (not the one I plan on using), 1Tb HDD will basic programs, and a 3Tb HDD for games. I'm planning to combine the 256GB SSD with the 3Tb drive. Sorry if I cause any confusion/concern.

Problem here is very situational and generally small benefit.

You will get much better results if you just use the same SSD to store games you are actively playing, at a cost of having to move them around.
