How to completely factory reset Ipad 8th gen?

Hello!

 

So I recently sold my Ipad and want to completely factory reset it. The buyer asked me to specifically erase my apple ID. How do I go about this? Does it do it automatically in the erase process?

This is a (German, but IIRC it changes the language automatically) guide published by Apple themselves concerning just that for preparation to sell/hand your device over to someone else. The guide ensures that you properly log off your device so that the activation lock actually gets removed.

Just change the letters where it says /de-de/ to the english:

Yeah. Basically it is logging out of your account and then factory-reset. The activation lock only comes on once the device is still logged-in to your account and gets factory reset. In that case, the lock comes on as a security measure so that a thief can't use the device. Some people actually forget to do that and then you'll be left with a brick.

So basically: Back-up your files, log out of your Apple account from the Settings menu and then you can factory reset without the activation lock.

In the guide it says:

• If you're using iOS 10.3 or later, tap Settings> [Your Name]. Scroll down and tap Sign Out. Enter your Apple ID password and tap Deactivate.

But basically just logout from your Apple ID? Correct?
